MS and Limited Mobility Yoga The great beauty of yoga is its adaptability. Research has shown that Yoga is beneficial for people with MS and other mobility conditions. Postures are adapted to be safe. The
modified poses and exercises increase flexibility, extend your range of motion, improve circulation and digestion and calm the nervous system. Props are used to enable the person to receive the benefits of the postures without strain and stress.
Since 2004, I have been a yoga consultant for the New York City Southern Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In addition, I have expanded upon these methods and adaptations to work with senior citizens and people with limited mobility in both group settings and private sessions.
I am grateful to B.K.S Iyengar and Senior Iyengar teacher Eric Small for their teachings on therapeutics and adaptive yoga.
Private Yoga Sessions are one-on-one sessions, tailored to your individual needs in the privacy of your home. Yoga was originally passed on from teacher to individual based on their body type, health and lifestyle. Private yoga sessions can help beginners to get comfortable with the postures and help intermediate/advanced practitioners to improve their technique and experience of the poses. Seniors and persons with mobility conditions can benefit from prescribed modifications of the poses with individual attention.
Celebrations, Private Parties and Groups Celebrate a birthday or a special event with a yoga party! Give the gift of yoga to newlyweds, or stressed out teens or friends. Yoga fun is ideal for Girl Scout events!
